Window Update

The next time you visit Epiphany, you might notice some yellow caution tape near the playground near the Columbarium. Let me explain why.

Earlier this year, the State of North Carolina launched the Clean Classrooms for Carolina Kids Program to address lead and asbestos hazards in childcare facilities. As part of this initiative, our licensed Early Childhood Education Center (EECC) underwent inspections of both indoor and outdoor spaces.

While our EECC classrooms were built after the use of lead and asbestos in construction materials, we discovered lead in the windows of the Conference Room and Nursery. This isn't surprising, as these windows were installed and painted before the federal government banned lead paint in 1978.

To ensure the safety of our children, we must maintain the caution tape, as there is no safe level of lead exposure.

To address this issue, Lisa Nichols (EECC Director), Ardel Meisinger (EECC Committee Chair), and Jim Pierson (Renew & Rejoice Projects Chair) have been diligently working on a solution: replacing the windows in the Conference Room and Nursery. We plan to replace the windows on the office side of the building later in the campaign.

The good news is that as a licensed childcare center, we are eligible for grant funding to fully replace the Nursery and Conference Room windows. To secure this "first-come, first-served" grant, we're applying as soon as possible, ensuring that your generous contributions to Renew & Rejoice are used wisely to protect our children.

Thank you for your unwavering support of Epiphany's ministry. Your generosity makes a significant impact on our community.
