Advent & Christmas
The Advent and Christmas seasons are a very special time of the year. We celebrate the coming of Jesus, remembering the Comfort, Hope, and Joy he brings to all.
Every Sunday, 10:00 am – Worship
We gather for weekly worship in person or by livestream on Facebook and YouTube.
December 4 - Ibraham Elementary Gifts Due.
We partner with Ibraham Elementary School in Winston-Salem as a part of our feeding ministry. If you’ve grabbed a tag from the Angel Tree, it’s due today! If you’d like for someone to shop for you, you can donate $45 and a member of Epiphany’s Outreach Committee will shop for you.
December 4, 11, 18, 7:00 pm – Advent Mid-Week Eucharist
Wednesdays in Advent we will gather for a brief worship service in the Sanctuary. This year Pastor Russell, Vicar Zach, and Vicar Liz will lead us in reflections on hope. A light supper is served at 6:00 pm.
December 8 - Nora, Virginia Gifts Due
Epiphany members will take unwrapped Christmas gifts for children at the Binns-Counts Community Center near Nora, Virginia, a community in rural southwestern Virginia.
December 8, 6 pm, River Birch Lodge - Women’s Sock Exchange
All women are invited to the River Birch Lodge at 6 pm for a meal. Bring socks with little goodies in them to exchange with others.
December 15, After Worship - Not So Ugly Christmas Sweater Pageant.
Our children are warning us that this year’s Christmas Pageant will get a little ugly! In all seriousness, you won’t want to miss this interactive, fun Christmas pageant in the Fellowship Hall following worship.
December 24, 3:00 and 7:00 pm – Christmas Eve Worship
Alleluia! Christ is born! Our 3:00 service will be a simplified, quieter worship service with carols, communion, and candlelight in person only. Our 7 p.m. service will be in person or live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube. Come hear the story of Jesus’ birth and sing beloved Christmas carols.
December 29, 10:00 am – Lessons and Carols
We will gather in person or by livestream on Facebook and YouTube for a beloved tradition of hearing the Christmas story and singing Christmas carols on Christmas Day. You can bring Christmas cookies to share before or after worship.
Sunday, January 5, 10:00 am – Epiphany Sunday
The first Sunday in January, we celebrate our congregation’s namesake, Epiphany. We’ll recall the wise men from foreign lands coming to worship the infant Jesus. In addition, we will bid farewell to our beloved pipe organ as a part of our Renew & Rejoice capital campaign. We are excited to announce that we will have a newly installed organ in late 2025.
January 5 - ELCA Good Gifts Due
Our challenge is to raise enough money to purchase 5 family farms for families throughout the developing world. Each family farm costs $715 and includes a cow, a couple goats, a dozen chicks, two pigs, farming tools, seeds and agricultural training.
