Lent at Epiphany
Lent is a holy time when Christians throughout the world ponder the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It is a time of renewal when we consider our call to love God and neighbor, as well as what it means to be a baptized child of God.
February 14 - Ash Wednesday
Noon and 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday with a reminder of our mortality and dependence upon God’s grace. People who come to worship on Ash Wednesday will have the opportunity for the imposition of ashes and reception of Holy Communion.
Sunday Mornings
9:00 AM EnCounter: Faith for all Ages
10:00 AM Worship in the Sanctuary
During Lent, our Adult Encounter: Faith Sunday School class will be welcoming special guests to talk about the ways in which they have served God in their lives.
In worship we will hear the good news of God and pay special attention to several stories from the Old Testament of the covenant God makes with people.
February 21, 28, March 6, 13, and 20 - Mid-Week Eucharist
6:15 pm - Light Supper in the Fellowship Hall
7:00 pm - Eucharist in the Sanctuary
During Lent we gather for an abbreviated service of Holy Communion in the Sanctuary with a teaching series on the lives of saints. Join us for a light meal in the Fellowship Hall before worship.
March 24 - Palm Sunday
10:00 am - Worship in the Sanctuary
On Palm Sunday we recall Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem as crowds of people expected him to rescue them from Roman rule, waving palm branches and shouting “Hosanna!” Later in the worship service we hear that Jesus has come to rescue the crowds (and us) in a different way as he hangs on the cross to save humanity from our sins.
March 28 - Maundy Thursday
Noon and 7:00 pm - Worship in the Sanctuary
On Maundy Thursday we remember Jesus’ commandment (mandatum in Latin) to “love one another as I have loved you.” Foot washing will be available as we gather around the Lord’s Table for Communion. At the end of the worship service, the altar is stripped of all its furnishings, reminding us of Jesus stripping and humiliation on the cross.
March 29 - Good Friday
Noon and 7:00 pm
Good Friday recalls the crucifixion of Jesus. At our noon service we will worship using the Stations of the Cross, an ancient way of recalling Jesus’ death on the cross. Our evening worship service will have a time of hearing the crucifixion of Jesus.
On Sunday March 31, we find out the rest of the story…
Come for breakfast at 9:00 am, an Easter Egg hunt for children around 9:30, and a Festival Worship Service celebrating the Resurrection at 10:00.
