Council Update (December)

As we approach the blessed seasons of Advent and Christmas, we especially want to thank everyone for their time, talents, and treasures that were offered throughout 2018. It has been a year of exciting change and transition for Epiphany, and we appreciate the many ways that you show your support for our important ministries.

This support was evidenced throughout November not only with our financial commitments on “Intent to Give” Sunday, but also by being present at Christ’s Beloved Church, our Encounter:Faith Together session honoring our veterans, the ongoing backpack and food pantry programs, and gifts for families in need in Nora, Virginia. Your generosity benefits so many people both within and outside of our congregation.

December offers us many opportunities for worship. On December 2nd we begin the season with our shared Encounter:Faith Together at 8:45 a.m. to learn about the history and traditions surrounding St. Nicholas. Advent services take place on December 5, 12, and 19 with suppers beforehand. Our tradition of two Christmas Eve services will continue on the 24th at 5:00pm and 10:00pm.

Also, on December 2nd, following the Sunday service, we will conduct a congregational meeting to vote on funding new LED lighting for the church. We sincerely thank the property team for all their work on this project.

In addition to worship in December, we will be asking everyone how they want to offer their gifts of time and talent through participation in committees and ministry teams in 2019. This will occur on December 9th.  Please prayerfully consider where you are being called to serve and remember that new experiences with different groups bless us in countless ways.

We pray that the Holy Spirit enriches you and yours with peace, comfort, and joy as we anticipate and celebrate the beauty and wonder of Christmas together.

In Christ,

Your Congregation Council
